The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred near Silverdale last night.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the parking lot of Gordon Fields on Fairgrounds Road in Central Kitsap County at around 11:30 p.m. last night, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, they encountered a 19-year-old Central Kitsap man with a gunshot wound; several people had fled the area in vehicles, the release states. The first deputy on the scene provided emergency medical treatment until medics from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue arrived. He was transported to a Tacoma-area hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the deputies’ investigation, a large crowd of people had gathered at the parking lot and a “scuffle” broke out between the victim and two other people. “During the scuffle, several people heard a gunshot, after which several people ran to their cars and fled the scene,” the release states. It’s at that point the victim realized he had been shot.

Detectives interviewed several people at the scene, but believe there are additional witnesses. Detectives attempted to speak to two people of interest, but were notified through an attorney that they were not willing to speak to the police, according to the release.

The sheriff’s office is asking witnesses of the incident or anyone with any information to contact Detective Tiffany Dobbins at td******@co.us or 360-337-5614. The case number is K21-007634.
