Fresh fruits and vegetables are soon to be on the menus of people on state food assistance after the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) was awarded a nearly $6 million federal grant.
The grant is part of $31 million in awards by the US Department of Agriculture to local, state, and national organizations to support programs that use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the DOH stated in a press release.
