Kitsap County has released a draft of the 2015 Kitsap County buildable lands report for public review and comment.
The report is a key component of the county’s 2016 comprehensive plan update, according to a press release from the county.
Washington state’s Growth Management Act requires Kitsap county, and five other counties, to prepare a buildable lands report, according to the release. The purpose of the report is to determine if the county and the cities in it are achieving planned urban densities and if sufficient land is available to accommodate the next 20 years of residential and employment growth.
Kitsap County worked with the cities of Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo to produce an all-inclusive analysis of land capacities for residential, commercial and industrial development, according to the release. The report followed methodology developed and approved during earlier buildable lands reports published in 2000 and 2007.
