A man has died after a five-car crash at Kitsap Way and National Avenue this weekend.
Gian King, a passenger in one of the cars involved in the crash, died Sunday at Harborview Medical Center, according to a press release from the Bremerton Police Department.
The police department is continuing to investigate the cause of, and issues relating to, the crash, according to the release.
A woman driving a red Kia involved in the crash, which reportedly rear-ended a Honda Accord at the intersection, reported having a newborn at home which interrupted her sleep, according to the release. She told investigators she likely fell asleep, causing the crash, the release states.
The Kia was driven onto the sidewalk on the east side of National Avenue “well before” the crash occurred, the release states.
“There is no indication of any attempt to correct the vehicle, which is consistent with the driver being asleep,” the release states.
