A female student at North Mason High School told school staff last week she was sexually assaulted on campus, according to a press release the Mason County Sheriff’s Office sent out on Wednesday.
The high school counselor called 911 immediately, and a sheriff’s deputy came to the school to take a report, the release states.
The student told a staff member an older male student, who she knew, lured her to the high school’s parking lot during school hours and raped her in a vehicle, according to the release.
Sheriff’s office detectives responded to the school to continue the investigation. The student also said the boy told her not to tell anyone about the alleged assault, the release states.
The student’s guardian reportedly took her to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton for a medical evaluation.
Detectives arrested the male student on Wednesday, and he is currently being held in Mason County Juvenile Detention, the release states.
